In August 2019, a critical meeting took place at the Sports Mediation Center in Wrocław, bringing together representatives from the top 8 Polish American football clubs. The agenda? To address and navigate the deep divisions and conflicts plaguing their community.

Mediation as a
Catalyst for Unity
The mediation process proved to be a turning point. It facilitated the identification and alignment of shared objectives, paving the way towards the establishment of the Polish Sports Association – the pinnacle legal entity for organizations representing sports disciplines.
This mediation was more than just a discussion; it was a transformative journey that laid the groundwork for cohesive and unified action within the American football community in Poland. The culmination of these efforts was the formation and official registration of the American Football Association in Poland, which later achieved the esteemed status of the Polish Sports Association.

The value of mediation in this journey cannot be overstated. Our community was riddled with disputes; there was a profound lack of listening and understanding – everyone was primarily self-focused. We were hamstrung by two competing power centers, neither of which could secure the necessary recognition from the Minister of Sport or international bodies. In retrospect, it’s evident that mediation was instrumental in not only quelling these disputes but, crucially, in forging a united front. This unity was the key to our success, leading to the formation of a representative organization that truly embodies the goals and interests of our American football community.
