During the sports and recreational acrobatics classes organized by a sports association, an incident occurred resulting in a minor participant sustaining a leg injury – a fracture of the fibula. The family of the injured minor demanded substantial compensation from the Association – the organizer of the classes.
The conflict centered on the compensation amount owed to the injured party by the association, leading the association to seek help from the Sports Mediation Center. The injured party’s representative agreed to mediation, resulting in a mutually agreed compensation figure. This mediation settlement proved highly effective, as both parties swiftly negotiated a realistic claim amount, demonstrating that a resolution was achievable without resorting to litigation and prolonged argumentation. Consequently, the settlement allowed the injured party’s family to focus on their daily lives, both family and professional, while the association continued its sports activities, avoiding negative publicity.
Thanks to mediation, we were able to resolve a dispute that could have lasted several years in court, costing a lot of money and stress, and potentially spreading a ‘negative opinion about our activities’. Mediation saved us from all of that.
